Head and neck cancer is the most common forms of cancer in countries like India.
Gujarat region has one of the highest numbers of people affected with head and neck cancer. The all-India prevalence of head and neck cancer is almost 9/ lakh of the total population while in Gujarat, it reaches 22/ lakh of the total population.
Head and neck cancer includes cancer of ear, nose, throat and oral cavity. Out of these, oral cancers are the commonest cancer. Chewing tobacco, smoking, and alcohol consumption are considered as primary reasons for head and neck cancer.
